What I Love About This Breast Pump
Here’s what my clients and I appreciate the most about the Motif Aura Glow:
1. You Can Use It Day and Night and on the Go
In terms of practicality, the Motif Aura Glow has all the bases covered. Its wearable design allows you to pump hands-free so you can multitask with ease (as modern motherhood often requires us to do).
Also, its built-in night light is a game changer and adds a level of simplicity you’ll be grateful for! This is especially helpful in the evening and during those middle-of-the-night pumping sessions.
My doula client says she usually uses her phone light to see if her milk letdown is happening when pumping at night, but with this breast pump, she doesn’t have to! This is such a cool and convenient tool. I love it! I also love how the brightness level is adjustable.
2. It Features a General Pumping Mode and a Cluster Feeding Mode
The Motif Aura Glow has two custom modes designed by lactation professionals: a general pumping mode and a cluster feeding mode. The general pumping mode has nine suction levels (with four steps each) and simulates typical expression and letdown. Meanwhile, the cluster feeding mode has five suction levels (with five steps each) and is made to help increase your milk supply. What’s neat about the cluster mode is you don’t have to use a timer to get a power pump session in; you can just use this setting instead! Having both of these modes allows you to adjust your pump settings as needed, maximizing both efficiency and output.
3. It Includes Several Silicone Insert Sizes (To Get the Right Fit!)
Getting the right flange size for your pump is so important! This is why I adore how the Motif Aura Glow comes with four pairs of silicone inserts in the following sizes (the silicone breast shields on the pump are 24mm):

While you can order other sizes if needed, this wide variety of inserts provides an excellent starting point for finding the perfect fit for each breast. This was super helpful for my client, who needed two different sizes. With this wearable pump, she was easily able to wear a size 19mm on one breast and 21mm on the other breast. Most companies don’t offer this many size options. You’d normally have to order and pay for different sizes. This is a very thoughtful and convenient feature!
Also, the size labels on the silicone inserts are much easier to read than those on other competitors. You can clearly see the sizing even when it’s inside the pump, which is nice if you need two different sizes and want to remember which flange goes on which side.
4. It’s Powerful and Efficient
This breast pump has a closed system with backflow protection (to ensure the motor and tubing are kept clean and contamination-free) and a milk spout plug to prevent leaks and spills. Thanks to these components, the Motif Aura Glow ensures you won’t have to waste even a bit of your pumped breast milk. I will say, with the milk spout plug, you do have to really make sure that it is aligned properly for it to close. Because it is silicone, it’s softer, and the plug can pop out more easily, so ensure that it’s properly placed when assembling.
After testing the pump in action, I love that it has hospital-grade suction strength up to 280 mmHg. My client said that she pumped more milk with the Motif Aura Glow than her other wearable pump. That made us both very happy! It also boasts a 90-minute battery life, allowing you to get multiple pumping sessions in before needing to recharge it. That’s the last thing you want to worry about when you need to get a pumping session in.
5. It’s Thoughtfully Designed and User-Friendly
One of my favorite features of this wearable pump is its silicone flanges. This material is so much softer than plastic and makes your pumping session more comfortable. My doula client said she much prefers this one over her others, and I agree!
With thoughtful features like a quiet <45-decibel hum that won’t disturb baby’s sleep (it’s super quiet), the Motif Aura Glow is user-friendly and made with your comfort and experience in mind. Plus, this pump is super easy to assemble and clean. I also like how it’s labeled on the sides — starting at 1 oz. A lot of wearable pumps start their marker at 2 oz, and for moms with newborns, it can be frustrating or discouraging when you’re only pumping 0.5 or 1 oz. But with this pump, you don’t have to guess! I really appreciate products that make being a mom a bit simpler and less complicated.
