While some are fortunate enough to fill their table with an indulgent dinner spread, many families in the Los Angeles area are struggling to make ends meet. With the ever-increasing cost of living in Los Angeles, families living paycheck-to-paycheck may not be able to afford the costs of an elaborate Thanksgiving dinner. With that in mind, we’ve compiled a list of organizations in Los Angeles that are easing the burden for families during the holidays by giving away FREE turkeys and Thanksgiving meals.

Where To Find Free Turkeys in Los Angeles for Thanksgiving

1. La Alameda Thankful For You Turkey Giveaway — Walnut Park

November 12, 2024 at 6pm

Head to Plaza La Alameda for this annual turkey giveaway. Turkey distribution is first-come, first-serve.  

2. Rich With Attitude, Inc. Turkey Giveaway — South LA

November 15, 2024 at 12pm

This impactful nonprofit that empowers underprivileged pregnant moms in the BIPOC community distributes a handful of free turkeys. Their turkey giveaway is limited, and those in need must register in advance. Register here.

3. City of Inglewood Turkey Giveaway — Inglewood 

November 20, 2024 from 9am – 12pm

The City of Inglewood distributes free turkeys in advance of Thanksgiving. The event serves 2,500 Inglewood residents, providing turkeys donated by Don Lee Farms, a bag of sides and additional items from Pepsi, Frito-Lay, and Snoop Dogg. This is a drive-thru event. No walk-ups are allowed. Advance registration is required. 

4. Never Stop Grinding Impact Turkey Giveaway — Rialto

November 20, 2024, from 10am – 2pm 

Taking place at the Rialto Certified Farmers Market, this is an annual giveaway. Turkeys are distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis, and registration is required to receive a turkey. 

5. LA Downtown Medical Center Free Turkey Giveaway — Echo Park

November 21, 2024, from 3pm to 7pm 

Residents of CD 13 can receive a free frozen turkey and a food box at this inaugural turkey giveaway. Advance registration is required to receive a turkey and food box. The distribution is limited to one turkey per household and is first-come, first-serve. You must be present in person to receive the turkey. 

6. Senator Bradford’s 2024 Drive Thru Boxed Food & Turkey Giveaway — Torrance

November 22, 2024 from 10am – 12pm

Senator Steven Bradford is partnering with the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints, U.S. VETS Inglewood and El Camino College Foundation for a turkey and boxed food giveaway for members of the 35th district. While supplies last, each car will receive one free frozen turkey. The line starts forming early and is located at the El Camino College Campus Parking Lot F. This is a drive-thru event. Walk-ups will not be accommodated.  

7. Ignite – The Light Of Hope Foundation Turkey Giveaway — Sylmar

November 22, 2024 from 5pm – 7pm 

The Ignite The Light Of Hope Foundation holds an annual free turkey giveaway in Sylmar. Turkeys will be distributed at LA Mission College on a first-come, first-serve basis. Everyone is welcome with no questions asked. In addition to free turkeys, the organization distributes free food every Friday to those in need at different locations throughout Los Angeles. 

8. Victory Outreach West Covina R.E.A.C.H. San Gabriel Valley Turkey Mealbox Giveaway — La Puente 

November 23, 2024 at 8am 

Free turkeys and Thanksgiving fixings will be handed out on a first-come, first-served basis until supplies last at the Victory Outreach Church of West Covina. Note that although their flyer shows the event beginning at 10am, their Instagram post states the distribution starts at 8am, so show up early. This is a drive-thru event. 

9. Victor Valley Rescue Mission’s The Great Thanksgiving Event — Victorville

November 23, 2024, from 12pm – 2pm

Residents of the High Desert can register for The Great Thanksgiving Turkey Basket Drive-Thru Giveaway at the San Bernardino County Fairgrounds. Proof of income, supporting documentation, and residency in Adelanto, Victorville, Barstow, Hesperia, Helendale, Oro Grande, Apple Valley, Barstow, Hesperia, Helendale, Oro Grande, Apple Valley, Lucerne, Oak Hills, Phelan and Pinon Hills is mandatory. There are five additional banquets at Hesperia Community Church, Helendale Community Church, Journey Foursquare Church, Victor Valley Community Church and The Rescue MIssion’s Event at San Bernardino County Fairgrounds.  

10. Pacific Community Center & Living Word of Upland Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway — Upland

November 23, 2024, from 1pm to 4pm 

Hundreds of turkeys will be distributed at Pacific Community Center in Upland. Free turkeys will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Although there is a registration, registration does not guarantee a free turkey, and Eventbrite registration is not required to receive a turkey. In addition to the free turkey giveaway, the event will also have activities for all ages and complimentary lunches for families. 

11. The SIX’s 3rd Annual Thanksgiving Food Giveaway — Long Beach 

November 24, 2024 at 12pm 

Put on by local group The SIX and 40 other organizations, this giveaway takes place at Martin Luther King Jr. Park. For your chance to participate in the giveaway, you must register in advance. This giveaway is more than just turkey and also includes sides, desserts, and drinks. 

12. TrueLA Church Pre-Thanksgiving Food Giveaway — Inglewood 

November 27, 2024, from 10am – 1pm 

TrueLA Church will provide free turkey and trimmings on a first-come, first-serve basis while supplies last. The distribution can be drive-thru or walk-up. Each car or household will receive one turkey and a food bag.  

13. Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation — South LA 

2024 date TBD 

The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation teams up with Mookie Bett’s 50/50 Foundation to host an annual drive-thru turkey drive. Thanksgiving meals are provided to families, along with other household items. Details have yet to be announced for this year. Check the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation website or the 50/50 Foundation website for announcements about the event.
