Paper Snow Globe Craft For Kids

Today we are doing a snow globe craft for kids! Winter is here and Christmas is nearing, so what better way to spend the day than making a super fun snow globe craft. Kids of all ages will love making this simple, but fun, paper snow globe craft. This budget-friendly snow globe craft is great whether you’re making it at home or in the classroom.

Snow Globe Craft

Using paper, paint, glue, glitter, and a couple other basic craft supplies, you can make your very own paper snowglobe. It is pretty, festive, and of course, sparkly!

Kids will be able to practice fine motor skills as they paint and cut. And also get into the holiday spirit as they paint up their favorite winter and holiday icons. So, without further ado, let’s make a paper snow globe!

Supplies Needed To Make This Fun Snow Globe Craft

How To Make Your Own Paper Snow Globe

Step 1

Draw a circle on your blue construction paper and cut it out.

Step 2

Cut your toilet paper roll down in half, and then half again, paint it black or any of your favorite colors. When it’s dry put 2 small slits on the left and right side.

Step 3

Paint a snowman on your blue circle. A large circle for the base, medium circle for the torso, and a small circle for the head. Then add coal eyes, mouth, and buttons, and a carrot nose.

Step 4

Paint a Christmas tree. You will paint a small triangle at the top and then the base of a larger one jutting from the bottom of the triangle, and then an even larger base from the middle one. Paint it in. Add a yellow star at the top and when the green is dry use a black marker to make your Christmas light lines.

Then dot the lines with Elmer’s glue and carefully sprinkle different colored glitter over each dot.

Step 5

Paint a large box and a small box and paint them whatever colors you like. We used red and yellow.

Step 6

Use Elmer’s glue to make the ribbons and bows and carefully sprinkle glitter over them. Let it dry.

Step 7

Spread apart cotton balls and glue them to the bottom of your snow globe to look like snow.

Step 8

Dip your paint brush lightly in white paint and brush your finger across the top to flick white paint on your snow globe to make white paint. Let it dry.

Optional If You Used Construction Paper

Step 9

We glued our blue construction paper circle to thin cardboard with a glue stick. Then it out. This gave it a more sturdy base.

Step 10

Place it into your toilet paper roll holder. And you’re done.

How To Make This Snow Globe Craft Your Own

Just like all our other crafts you can make this craft your own to fit your child’s needs. You can change things like:

• Using crayons or markers to decorate your snow globe.
• Cut out the pieces from foam or construction paper.
• Use stickers!
• Use glitter to make snow instead of paint. (My kids said I used enough glitter.. ha ha.)
• You can use glue pens to decorate.
• Use paint pens instead of free-handing your art.
• Change the background to a different color.
• Add more details to the snow globe base.

Our Experience With This Snow Globe Craft

It took be a minute to fine some easy diy snow globes that younger kids could do. They had so many cute ideas to make some with mason jars or glass jars, and while they’d be fun to shake, my toddler doesn’t need glass.

Maybe I’ll try on of the snow globe tutorial with my older kids. You know where you had the baby oil and liquid like distilled water and use your hot glue gun to seal the jar lid?

But this one was equally as fun and you can get all the supplies cheap at the dollar store or your local craft store like Michaels, Hobby Lobby, etc. You can make your own snow globe that you can look at and that is easy to make by toddlers and preschoolers. This easy craft can be given as a gift to Grandma and Grandpa or used as a centerpiece. It’s awesome! We hope you enjoyed making a paper snow globe as much as we did!
