Directions to Make Foam Cup Snowman

Step 1
First, cut a 1-inch wide strip of felt using the full length of the felt sheet with scissors.
Fringe the ends with scissors by cutting 4 or 5 slits at each end which will make the snowman’s scarf.
Step 2
Second, place your foam cup upside down. Glue the scarf around the cup, leaving enough room for a face.
Step 3
Third, cut triangles from orange felt and glue them to the face area for the snowman’s carrot nose.
Step 4
Let’s begin to make the snowman’s earmuffs. We chose to use the same color for each snowman’s scarf and earmuffs, but that is your fashion decision to make…
- With scissors, cut a pipe cleaner in half.
- Bend the 1/2 of a pipe cleaner around the top of the snowman’s head (bottom of the cup).
- Trim the ends of the pipe cleaner so that they hang over by about 1/2-inch on either side.
Step 5
The next step in making the snowman’s earmuffs is to trim one side of a pom pom to make it a little flatter.
Step 6
The final step in making snowman earmuffs is to glue the flattened pom pom to the pipe cleaner on the side of the snowman’s head.
Repeat for the other side.
Step 7
Finally, use a black marker to add eyes.
You can add eyebrows if you like as well! I always do because it adds to their cute expressions and gives them character.

Suggested Variations for Snowman Craft Projects
Here at Kids Activities Blog we love when you can just make something without running to the store or spending money. Here are some ideas to make your snowman craft easier, cheaper, more useful and get the whole family involved:
- Loop a string through the top of the styrofoam cup snowman’s head, tie from inside the cup and hang on your Christmas tree.
- Substitute toilet paper rolls instead of cups, cut the craft rolls down a little to make a shorter snowman and then follow the directions to create your own snowman toilet paper roll craft.
- If you don’t have felt sheets on hand, try using construction paper! It won’t be as cozy, but it will be super cute.
- Replace the pom poms with cotton balls for big fuzzy snowman earmuffs.
- Use googly eyes instead of drawing in your snowman eyes.
