Signs of Halloween are cropping up everywhere, and it’s time to visit pumpkin patches near Boston. Cutting your own perfect pumpkin in a pumpkin field, or picking your own from the pumpkin patch, is extra special. You’ll find a perfect jack-o’-lantern-to-be at one of these Massachusetts pumpkin patches. While there, you can take part in some fun family activities, like apple picking, corn mazes, and hayrides.

Best Pumpkin Patches North of Boston
1. Smolak Farm—North Andover
Choose your perfect pumpkin from the patch and spend the day enjoying an abundance of extras during Smolak’s weekend festivals, with a hay wagon ride, hay maze, face painting, bouncy house, and other children’s activities for one package price.
2. Connors Farm—Danvers
Connors not only has pumpkins but a major corn maze, play area, bouncy pillow, and train rides! Picking starts in late September. No outside food is allowed on the farm, but there are tons of delicious stands including BBQ, cider donuts, and s’mores.
3. Crescent Farms—Bradford
From orange to white, Jack Be Little to Big Max, Crescent has plenty of beauties to pick from in its rolling pumpkin patch. A wagon takes you to the patch, featuring great views of the 400-acre farm. There’s ice cream, a kid-friendly corn maze, and more scenic hayrides available on weekends.

4. Hanson’s Farm—Framingham
This century-old family farm offers pumpkin picking through November, and specializes in fat, gorgeous pumpkins. There’s a little corn maze to enjoy by day and a haunted hayride on Friday and Saturday evenings to add to the fun.
5. Pickard Farm—Littleton
A half-hour from Boston and less than a mile from Kimball Farm ice cream and Witch’s Woods, a stop at Pickard to pick-your-own pumpkin right off the vine rounds out a pretty perfect fall day. Pluck some butternut squash for dinner and corn stalks for decorating, too. Weekend pumpkin picking begins in September.
6. Parlee Farms—Tyngsboro
Parlee Farms is harvesting 13 acres of pumpkins in 2023 and is already lining them up in all their glory in an expansive on-site pumpkin patch. Parlee Farms is open Tuesday through Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting. On Saturdays and Sundays, pick up their 27-minute roasted corn, cut your own flowers, visit baby goats, get some treats, and pick your own apples, too.

7. Shelburne Farm—Stow
Shelburne Farm offers pumpkin picking daily; consult the website for updates. On weekends, Shelburne Farm offers hayrides, farm animals, and a playground perfect for young children.

8. Verrill Farm—Concord
This 4th-generation, 200-acre farm in Concord and Sudbury has thousands of pumpkins priced 3 for $30 or $12 each, no weighing, beginning September 25. You must make a free arrival reservation online to ensure your entrance for leisurely pumpkin picking is COVID-safe. Visit the pumpkin fields weekends through October. Verrill Farm is hosting a harvest festival with games and prizes, live music, animals, a la cart food, and more on October 15.
9. Carver Hill Orchard—Stow
After filling their bags with apples, kids can pick out the perfect pumpkin. Visit the farm store for crafts, decorations, fresh cider, chicken pies, fudge, peanut brittle, and cookies. A stop at the stand outside for hot cider and donuts is absolutely essential.
10. Tougas Family Farm—Northborough
Come for the pumpkin patch and apples and stay to play after. Tougas has a farm-themed playground and barnyard animals to visit with. Make sure to head inside to the Farm Kitchen for delicious baked goods, real fruit slushies, and more made from the farm’s own fresh fruit.
11. Westward Orchards—Harvard
Wagon rides to Westward’s pick-you-own pumpkin patch begin September 25 and run weekends only. The farm store offers fresh apple cider donuts and a healthy list of locally grown produce, and u-pick apples are also available.

12. Nihtila Farm—Holbrook
Nostalgic for the simple PYO operations more common when you were a kid? This sweet little family farm allows you to pick your pumpkins from the vine, starting in September and offers hayrides Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through the end of October.

13. Ward’s Berry Farm—Sharon
Beginning in September, Ward’s offers PYO pumpkins along with hayrides, a sorghum maze, kids play areas, and farm animals. There’s also sandwiches, ice cream, home-baked goods made from family recipes, and smoothies. Sit outside at numerous picnic areas and enjoy the farm views. Check the website for daily updates.
14. Sauchuk’s Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch—Plympton
The oldest of its kind in Eastern Massachusetts, Sauchuk’s Farm features a pumpkin patch, as well as hayrides, apple picking, and a “barnyard arcade” with rustic games. Sauchuk’s also has one of the region’s finest corn mazes!
15. C.N. Smith Farm—East Bridgewater
Head over to C.N. Smith Farm in East Bridgewater for fresh local produce, including PYO pumpkins and apples. The farm has some delightful fall treats to reward yourself for all the pumpkin lugging! Check the farm’s Facebook page for updates.
