How To Make This Silly Alien Craft
Step 1
Punch out dots from your foam using your hole punch.
Step 2
Punch 2 holes into your toilet paper roll. Once on each side.
Step 3
Wrap your toilet paper roll in aluminum foil and push the excess into the roll. Poke a hole into the holes you punched out.
Step 4
Cut out a black mouth from the foam and a red rectangle from the foam. Glue them on onto your alien.
Step 5
Cut your pipe cleaners down and put them through the side holes folding over the ends inside the tube before taping them down. Tape a third piece at the top.
Step 6
Glue on googly eyes. We used 2 medium ones and one big one.
Step 7
Decorate it’s “clothes” we used 2 yellow dots, 3 blue dots, and 4 green dots. And you’re finished!
Make This Alien Craft Your Own
Just like all our other crafts you can make this alien craft your own. You can do things to change it up like:
- Use construction or decorative paper instead of foam.
- Decorate your aliens using permanent markers.
- Make a alien spaceship to go along with it using paper plate.
- Add pompoms to the antenna and the side of the head.
- Use a craft stick to turn your aliens into puppets.
- Add sequins instead of foam dots.
- Set them in a paper bowl to look like a flying saucer.
- Use your scissors to cut off the edges of your toilet paper roll. Make a jagged edge instead of a straight edge.
- Have old short pencils. Use an old pencil in each arm instead of pipe cleaners.
- Cut down popsicle sticks to use as arms.
Our Experience With This Alien Craft
I recently introduced my kids into Space Jam and they loved it. But then they wanted to make aliens. Which I’m down with. And because we have a supply of toilet paper rolls I figured this is a great way to use them.
I also had leftover tin foil from our tin foil craft and figured we could use that up. We also had leftover foam and I knew this would be a great way to use it up. This craft ended up being a fun way to use up crafting scraps that we had left.
I won’t throw out stuff if I think it can be used again. And this is one of those cases I think it paid off. My kids, both younger and older kids, had a blast making their own silly aliens. And I hope your kids have as much fun as my kids did making this toilet paper roll craft.
