1. Embrace Beach Life
The beaches are the number 1 reason to fall in love with Fairfield: five beautiful beaches across the town, each with its own personality. Off-season, non-residents can visit for free (Before Memorial Day Weekend and after Labor Day). Or pay for the day at Penfield Beach and Jennings Beach; both have playgrounds and concession stands.
2. …Or Fun at the Lake
Swim at Lake Mohegan’s fresh water lake. Enjoy the water on the splash pad or head to the playground.
3. Cheer on the Fairfield Stags
Wear red and head over to the newly renovated Leo D. Mahoney Arena to support Fairfield University basketball. Make sure to say “hi” to Lucas, the team’s mascot.
4. Indulge in a Sweet Treat
Fairfield could be renamed “Dessert City”. Pick between ice cream at Saugatuck Sweets, paletas from Dave’s Gourmet Paletas, cupcakes at Bonker’s, cookies from Chip City, donuts at Donut Inn or froyo from 16 Handles. You can’t go wrong!
5. Take a Fit4Mom’s Class
Bring your baby or toddler in a stroller and work out along with other moms. Classes are held year round, with post-class entertainment for kids such as playgrounds, activities, and outings.
6. Paint at Hands on Pottery
Pick a ceramic piece and paint away! Create your own keepsake plate, or make something just for fun (perfect for a kid’s bedroom). Hands onGreat for a rainy day activity.
7. Play a Round of Golf
Schedule a tee time at the Carl Dickman Par 3 golf course. Play a round on the short, 9-hole course for a special outing with the kids.
8. Run a Race in Fairfield
There are half-marathons, 5K’s, and even a fun kid’s run during the annual Fairfield Half Marathon. Rather run for pizza? Colony Grill Hot Oil 5K is a town favorite in the fall.

Slides, ball pits, and several climbing obstacles, Playhouse Fairfield is a perfect spot for preschoolers to let loose!

Slide down the tallest slide at Highland Park! Over 15 public parks and playgrounds open year round across town. Every parents knows this is much needed for younger children entertainment. Climb, swing, slide, or pretend play at one of Fairfield’s many parks. Most of the playgrounds have been renovated over the last year.
13. Check out the Library
Fairfield has three public libraries throughout the town. Each has a kid’s section filled with toys, activities, and even classes. Sing and Stomp at Sherman Green is a town favorite, offering an interactive music and story time for younger kids.
14. Walk Around Southport
Stroll by the historic houses (with a striking variety of architectural styles) along Long Island Sound. Trust me, it will be breathtaking.
15. Explore Downtown Fairfield
Downtown has plenty of fun places, with restaurants, shopping, and more. All of downtown is sidewalk friendly. Beehive is a favorite of mine, with its gorgeous home decor and selection of children’s clothes and seasonal items.
16. Jam out at Sherman Green
There’s always music at Sherman Green for all ages. Peanut Butter Jam Concert Series in the summer is loved by young ones. Or come see cover bands at night during the summer months.
17. Go Hiking in Fairfield
Take in nature and enjoy hiking the trails at either Lake Mohegan or the Connecticut Audubon Center.
18. Stroll Through the Wonderland at Roseville
Get out of your car and walk through most magical Christmas house in Fairfield—literally. Wonderland at Roseville lights up every night after Thanksgiving as many visitors witness a fully decorated front and backyard.

Fairfield’s Boca Grille is the best restaurant for eating outside. Located at the H. Smith Richardson golf course, Boca has all the standard kid menu options, like pizza, pasta, and chicken fingers. Kids will enjoy watching the golfers on the 18th green.

Reef Shack in Fairfield offers fast casual dining with plenty of entertainment for kids, including a gaming area. Kids can roam outside, with outdoor games, a glider, and more. Don’t leave without Italian Ice!

Seen on Guy Fieri’s “Diner, Drive-In’s, and Dives”, Super Duper Weenie has signature hot dogs, fries, and burgers. Counter service with some seating for a quick bite.

This great Italian restaurant is located downtown. Sit outside to enjoy entertainment on the green, or just people watch. Rather have your food to go? Centro has a family meal for 4 under $30, including homemade pasta, sauces, Caesar salad, and bread.
24. Old Post Taven
Another downtown restaurant option for lunch or dinner, Old Post Tavern is a great outdoor option for the warmer weather; the menu has all the kid-friendly favorites.
25. Candlewood Market
This cute coffeehouse offers breakfast and lunch, with pastries, breakfast sandwiches, bagels, and more. Bacon, egg, and cheese on a croissant is the best.
26. Firehouse Deli
Grab a sandwich or salad for lunch downtown at Fairfield’s Firehouse Deli. Chose between picnic tables with umbrellas outside or a cozy spot indoors.
