My family has loved the classic experience of the different adventures you can have in a real escape room since our very first escape room many years ago. What surprised me was that the way escape rooms work is that you are best doing it as a team. Team searches for clues, team solving the escape room directions and clues together because this game of twists is easier to win when problem solving is a group event. Even the youngest family member has important information to share making the team escape a great time!
Escape Room Adventures in a Book
Now the real-life adventure escape room game has been put in the pages of Usborne’s new series of Escape Room Books.
We are going to show you the first two editions that are currently available that are packed with unique experiences, challenging puzzles and the ability to do just a few puzzles or an entire immersive entertainment experience from your home.

1. Escape Room Book: Can You Escape the Museum?
Escape Room: Can You Escape the Museum – This escape room book is the first and written by Dr. Gareth Moore and Beatriz Castro. It has 47 pages of adventure games, 12 pages of perforated full color two sided puzzle pieces and 4 pages of foldable hints.
This is a gorgeous hardback book with beautiful illustrations is your game guide around the museum theme filled with ancient relics and natural history. The book has a large envelope in the back that stores the extra pages and eventually all the game pieces once you have played this escape room for the first time.
The instructions to set up your best escape room are at the front of the book. There are just a few things that you will take out of the envelope and fold immediately keeping that part of the escape game secret and then all the other things can be pulled out and folded and used on the corresponding page inside the book.
They recommend not taping the escape room puzzles on the first time so you can fold everything up neatly and store in the pocket for next time.
2. Escape Room Book: Can You Escape the Video Game?
Escape Room: Can You Escape the Video Game? This escape room book is written by Dr. Gareth Moore and has the same format as the museum themed escape room book. It is filled with 47 pages of clever puzzles making you the hero of the story…hopefully! The physical game pieces can be found in the back pocket of the book with both pages of perforated puzzles and pages of foldable hints. All in all it is a really fun escape game!
It starts with escape room directions and the entire escape room experience is themed around video games.
Why an Escape Room Book?
I can see the advantages of an escape room book immediately. You could use these museum themed puzzles individually or a series of break out games for a special occasion like a birthday party with small or large groups to create memorable experiences. Or on special days in your normal life you could play a few of the escape room puzzles or sit down for a long time and work through the entire escape room scenario. It all sounds like so much fun!
