If you thought you’d have to travel to Africa to sleep on the safari, have we got news for you: Savannah Sunset Resort is set for a summer 2024 debut right in our own backyard. The brand-new glamping-style resort opens at Six Flags Great Aventure in Jackson, New Jersey, this June, and it’s already taking reservations.
Read on for details on this family-friendly resort and find more glamping resorts in the tri-state area in our Guide to Day Trips and Weekend Getaways.
Savannah Sunset Resort and Spa sits at one of the highest points of the Six Flags Wild Safari property.
The resort offers 20 separate glamping suites accommodating 2-6 guests in luxurious safari-style tents. Expect top-of-the-line amenities and West African, safari-style decor. Each private suite has its own bathroom with running water, plus access to shared outdoor entertainment including fire pits, games, an on-site spa, and event spaces.
A two-night minimum stay is required, and there’s one other catch: The resort only welcomes children ages 5+, so save this special overnight until your kids are at least kindergarten age!

A giraffe-feeding encounter is part of the appeal of a stay at the Savannah Sunset Resort and Spa.
In addition to the amenities at Savannah Sunset Resort and Spa, all guests enjoy on-site breakfast, evening s’mores, and multi-park tickets to explore all the other attractions at Six Flags Great Adventure and Hurricane Harbor. The real clincher, though, might be the included giraffe-feeding encounter!
Spa services and additional VIP animal encounters are available at an additional cost.
Savannah Sunset Resort is taking reservations for visits beginning Friday, June 14, 2024, and is but one of the exciting happenings coming to Six Flags Great Adventure this summer. In celebration of the park’s 50th anniversary season, it’s set to debut a brand-new roller coaster, The Flash: Vertical Velocity, and welcome back the return of the Safari Off Road adventure, which had been reimagined as an individual drive-thru during the pandemic. Hurricane Harbor’s getting a new family-centric Splash Island attraction as well. Six Flags Great Adventure opens its 2024 season Saturday, March 16, 2024.
